In June, Tereza Zapletal Kozeluhova was considering retiring from professional golf after five years on the LET Access Series (LETAS).
But after a string of positive results, including winning her first professional title at July’s Women’s English Open, the Czech golfer is in firm contention to collect one of the seven LET cards ahead of the 2027 season.
Ahead of this week’s Super Bock Ladies Open in Vidago, Portugal, Zapletal Kozeluhova is currently sixth in the LETAS Order of Merit (OOM) standings.
“Right now, I don’t want to say I’m feeling stressed out because I still have three tournaments to go,” she said. “I didn’t play good the last four tournaments, so I dropped down a little bit from fourth place.
“I’m just going to stay present, shot by shot, focus on myself and not anyone else. I like this golf course. I remember from last year, it’s really challenging, especially the first nine which is more narrow.
“I don’t really know how the scores are going to be compared to last week, but I feel like my game is better than it was last week. I’m going to try to stay straight from the tee, hit as many greens as possible.”
After Zapletal Kozeluhova’s win in Manchester, she recorded five straight Top 10 finishes in England, Ireland, Denmark and Slovakia. Since then though, the Plzen-native has missed four straight cuts.
“Up until then, it was a really great season,” she said. “I know that some players are at their best all season. But for me, I know that it’s really normal to have a really good few tournaments and then not so good. I feel like I already played all those not good ones and I think it should be again my time to shine.
“This season is the best by far, with the victory, I think that’s like the highlight of the season and also my career. I’m still super happy about this season. My golf is really consistent, I feel really good on the greens and from tee boxes.
“The only thing that I’ve been struggling a little bit with are irons. So that’s the thing I want to focus on the last few tournaments, but overall, I feel like my game is where it’s supposed to be.”
When asked about her initial plans to retire, Zapletal Kozeluhova added: “I’m still at the same point because I feel like I don’t want to change what I said throughout the season. I just want to play the best I can and see how it goes.
“I know that there are seven cards for us to get on the LET, but there is also Q-School, so I know that this is not the only chance I have this year. That’s how I think about it.
“That is my goal, to get on the LET and just keep it going. If not, I’m going to think about ending my career because I feel like LET is the point where I want to be and if not, after those five years, I’m going to think about something else.
“I still see the vision of LET. For years, I didn’t even think that’s possible because I have never been this high. It will mean a lot for me that I would be there with the other girls, travelling with them.
“It would be an amazing experience for me. I know every time there is something you can improve, but I think this game is the game I need for me to get my LET card.”
