France’s Anne-Charlotte Mora, South Korea’s Ayeon Yang and Austria’s Isabella Holpfer all fired rounds of five-under 67 to co-lead the Lavaux Ladies Open on the LET Access Series (LETAS).
The trio, who teed off in the afternoon wave, lead six other players by one shot at Golf de Lavaux.
Playing her seventh LETAS event of the season, Mora was the first into the clubhouse with a bogey-free round comprising birdies on holes 6, 7, 9, 13 and 14.
“So happy about going bogey-free,” she said. “I’m very happy because I’ve been making many bogeys recently, and a lot of birdies. But this time, the birdies count! So it’s nice.
“It feels good, but I’m not trying to think about it too much. I’m just happy about the way I played today, happy I got the bogey-free round and try to keep going tomorrow.”
The Frenchwoman is aiming to win on the LETAS for the first time this season, following her maiden victory at the 2025 Women’s Irish Challenge.
Following Mora into the clubhouse was Yang, who mixed six birdies with one bogey to put herself among the co-leaders.
“I got a lot of birdies,” she said. “Like six birdies. And also, like good putting. It just goes directly to the hole. And I was surprised, too. Yeah, it was a really nice round. All my shots were very smooth which was good.”
“From the first hole, at number 10, I made a putt from nine feet and it was a pretty long putt, it just went into the hole. And the next one was seven feet which also went into the hole. I was lucky today.”
The South Korean finds herself in a familiar position having come close to clinching her first title at July’s Women’s Irish Challenge. She lost out to Beth Coulter in a sudden-death play-off to finish in second place.
“In Ireland, I was not ready for a win, but this week I really want to win,” she said. “I really focused on practicing my putting, I will do my best to get my win.”
Speaking about her decision to compete in Europe, Yang added: “Actually I was doing well in Korea, but I was a little sick and tired being every day playing on the same course. So I wanted to give some chance to refresh my golf, and I just decided to come here.
“Tomorrow, I’m just going to focus on what I can do, don’t hurry and just wait for my birdies.”
Austria’s Isabella Holpfer also went bogey-free to prop herself up the leaderboard. She eagled the par-5 5th hole before rolling in birdies on holes 7, 8 and 13 to cap off a flawless round.
Trailing the trio at four-under overall are France’s Gala Dumez, Finland’s Anna Backman, Austria’s Johanna Ebner, Germany’s Theresa De Bochdanovits, France’s Lucie Malchirand and United States’ Antonia Malate.
Malchirand, who won the Hauts de France Open last week, is bidding to become the first player this season to win back-to-back titles on the LETAS.
Only one player, Sweden’s Moa Svedenskiold, has won twice on the LETAS this season; at the Ladies German Challenge and CSK Steel Women’s Open.
Two shots behind the leaders, at three-under for the tournament, come 11 other players including South Africa’s Kaiyuree Moodley, Spain’s Maria Villanueva, Ireland’s Canice Screene, Swiss amateur Amelie Weber, England’s Bel Wardle, Australia’s Hannah Reeves, Sweden’s Elsa Svensson and Sofie Bringner, France’s Lauren Holmey, Czechia’s Natalie Saint Germain and Italy’s Erika De Martini.
The cut line is currently projected to be even-par, with 47 players shooting one-under or better on a low scoring day at Golf de Lavaux.
Round 2 of the Lavaux Ladies Open resumes on Thursday at 8.15am (local time) and there will be a cut to the top 45 professionals and ties following the conclusion of tomorrow’s round.
